Why I Write
God has a sense of humor! It makes me laugh to read the words of Ecclesiastes 12:12 - “....be warned: the writing of many books is endless….” !
And of course, now that we have the internet, the availability of reading material goes far beyond books. A click, a swipe, a scroll, and we could read 24 hours a day for the rest of our lives and never come to the end of it.
So why bother to add anything new into the mix?
Scripture tells us, “For we are (God’s) workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Eph.2:10) God has created every person with a purpose, a design, and a plan. This is intensely personal. This is true even for people who do not choose to acknowledge God as their Creator, or to trust Jesus Christ as their Savior. They are still fearfully and wonderfully made, with unique gifts and talents that were meant to glorify God. Those of us who DO acknowledge and submit to the Lord Jesus have the wonderful possibility of coming to Him intentionally with a willing heart, ready to walk with Him into the assignment He has planned for us on this planet.
Each of us also has a unique story, and every story is important. The Bible is full of stories of unique individuals - all so different from each other - but all meant to glorify God, and to bless and benefit others by making Him known.
That’s why I write! By God’s design, I have a story to share, a gift of words, and a desire to help others come to know Him. Above and beyond even that, when ANY of us walks in obedience to Him, we have the wonderful opportunity to bring pleasure to HIS HEART. What an amazing possibility for all of us!
“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Rev.4:11)
